Forest Gate Academy hosted its fourth successful summer open day on a warm and sunny July afternoon. The event was well-attended by a variety of members of the school community including Governors, strategic partners, LA representatives, parents and the Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Ejaz Malik who gave a speech congratulating the Dean Trust on the success of the school. The guests were superbly entertained by pupils from Ashton On Mersey who sang and played instruments displaying many talents; the Broadoak Steel Band (which fitted beautifully with the weather), and the choir of Forest Gate who also demonstrated their recorder talents.
Chief Executive and Academy Principal, Tarun Kapur CBE welcomed the guests and thanked everyone for supporting the school over the years and Head of School, Peter Heath, was pleased to describe the school’s journey towards improvement reinforced by the recent Ofsted grading that Forest Gate is now a “Good” school. Year 6 ambassadors gave tours of the school following a buffet lunch with all the classes in active lessons, and many guests enjoyed joining in with singing practice in the school hall.
It is expected that these community events will continue to be successful as the school undertakes building work to accommodate more children in the very near future.
